Stardate:2406.10.06 (USS Nimitz - On the hull - Ensign Miles O'Neill - 1350) =^=O'Neill to Capt. Sash. Sir, Ms. Weston and I have come up with an idea to get the sensor array working again. It involves using a shuttle's sensor array to boost the output of the ship's sensor array and channeling it through the main sensors. What do you think of it?=^= Sash was sitting inhis command chair and looked at the blank view screen, wishing he could see what was going on out there. Finally he sighed, "Very welll Mr. O'Neill, do what ever it takes to get those sensors on line. Sash out." Stardate:2406.10.06 (USS Nimitz - On the hull - Ensign Miles O'Neill - 1352) =/\=Very welll Mr. O'Neill, do what ever it takes to get those sensors on line. Sash out.=/\= =/=We got the go ahead from the Captain. We should report to the shuttlebay, but we need to go to Engineering first, we need someone to monitor our progress.=\= Stardate:2406.10.06 (USS Nimitz - Main Engineering - Ensign Miles O'Neill - 1400) "So you understand what we need you to do, right? Monitor out progress from this console, and tell us if it's working or not." Miles said to Engineers Johnson and Santiago. "Yes sir." They both replied. "Good." Miles then turned his attention to Weston. "Let's get to the Main Shuttlebay." Stardate:2406.10.07 (USS Nimitz, Conference lounge, CEO, Lt(sg) Zzt, 09:59) After having dropped the bad piggie like the Captain had told him to, Zzt had taken his seat again on the floor. He held his PADD in one paw, looking over his report one last time. "...blood feud with Falthgood and his family." ~Food!?~ Zzt looked up hungrily, at the mention of food. He hadn't had time to eat a full meal in some time and was more than a little hungry. He saw Tagon move over to Mr. Piggie and kneel down close, Zzt assumed he was getting a snack. ~Well piggies do like to eat.~ Zzt edged him self over closer to Dorkin and then slung a large furry arm around the marine drawing him close. "Piggie say him got food?" Zzt asked, "Zzt want some food too." (Reply Dorkin) Then the Captain called the meeting to order and Zzt shuffled back to his spot on the floor. He licked his fangs hungrily a few times, thoughts of hot juicy meat dancing in his minds eyes. He could almost taste the blood dripping from his fangs, the sweet flavor or raw meat sliding down his throat. Zzt was completely lost in his day dream of food and prey. Licking his fangs repeatedly, his eyes staring off into the distance as his claws twitched with his day dream. "...What's our status Lt Zzt?" Zzt jumped at the sound of his name, reality slamming home suddenly. Zzt looked around frantically. "Food?" He stammered, his imaginary prey suddenly gone. He looked around again finally his gaze falling on the Captain. "Sorry. Zzt distracted. Zzt hungry. Piggie mention food. Zzt want food." (Reply Sash iyw) "Ship?" Zzt continued to stammer nervously, "Better. Warp drive back on line, but with bent nacelle we limited to warp 2 at moment. SIF is better. Up to 44%. Zzt work on rising to 67% by time we reach river. Concentrate on main stress points of space frame so we ready swim river when we get there. Phasers still off line, but got power to quantum launchers. Phasers back on line today, before we swim river. We need dry dock time when return to Geneva to repair nacelle, Then Zzt fully overhaul SIF system as well and get back to 100%." Stardate:2406.10.07 (USS Nimitz- Conference Room- FO- Commander Kestra Troi- 1000) Kestra looked down at the table giving thought of Wilson and those that fell during the battle. She knew that there had been so many battles in the past on virtually every civilized world. Each being that fell in those battles believed that what they were doing was just and right. But, she was not so sure that the crew that was killed in this battle knew whether or not they were dieing for something just and right. She had thought that with all the reasons that was presented against Doenitz that what they were doing was just, but, she had doubts sometimes. This was one of those times when she thought of the fallen, was it worth it. She also thought of Michaella and her girls, how hard it might be for them. She had first hand knowledge of how it felt when the bond broke. She had no knowledge how it would be for the girls except that they had lost their father that they had just found. She knew that it had been a rocky road for all of them and even since they arrived on the Nimitz. She had hoped that after the battle, that she could possibly help them get things settled and now there is no settleing. It seemed to her that all she had been doing lately was saying good bye to one or the other. She had to say good bye to her dad, Sky, Aragorn, Susan and to many more to name at this time as Sash restarted the meeting. "Now that we have dealt with the past, lets look to the present. With the passing of Commander Wilson I find that I'm in need of a second officer. After a long night, I have asked Dr. BigWill Kincaid to be our 2O. Dr. Kincaid, please come forward." Kestra watched as Sash took the black pip and placed it on Dr. Kincaid's uniform lapel. She had watched how he had performed for her and was glad that Sash had recognized it also. She added her congratulations after Sash finished and shook the Doctors hand. As Kincaid made his way back to his seat, Sash continued the meeting with the promotion of the ship's counselor, Ensign Harrison. This too was very good as he did things over and above what he was trained to do. She listened to the reports one by one as Sash called on them and made notes to herself on them. She was still putting some stuff down from what Zzt had said when she heard him call her name. "What is the status of Archimedes, Commander Troi?" "Well, Sir, we are in a lot better shape than the Nimitz and I am glad of that." She smiled at Sash as she knew that was the whole purpose of what the Nimitz had done, to keep the trawler safe. "But, we did sustain some damage which is being repaired as we speak. We have some weapons, long range sensors, warp and impulse systems. We also are capable of using tractor beams if needed to tow the Nimitz as we do need to continue to get closer to the river. We can not afford to get caught with the Nimitz as bad as she is.Sir." She finished and waited to see what Sash might say. Stardate:2406.10.07 (USS Nimitz - Conference Room - Lt Falthgood - 1002) "Sounds serious," Falthgood looked up and grinned at the large'ish officer, "Sounds like a joke." He said, just loud enough to be heard by the Tellarite. Falthgood rearranged his seat as the officer moved over to the Tellarite. Zach didn't hear what was said, but it caused Dorkin to grunt and glare. Zach folded his hands together and tried listening to the meeting. In truth, a Tellarite Blood Feud was the last thing he needed. ... even if it did cause such funny things as Zzt demanding food off of the Tellarite. Falthgood shook his head; the giant bear would never grow up. There was something humorous about that. Dorkin now seemed to be behaving himself; he didn't make a single answer to Zzt. That was worrisome in itself though, Dorkin was a trained Marine... if he was that angry, there was no telling what he could do. He shook his head and tuned into the meeting, such as it was. Stardate:2406.10.07 (USS Nimitz - conference Lounge - Chief TAC Ensign Kateb - 1010) Onyx remain silent and listen, she was happy that partial warp drive was working. Sticking too long around here didn't make her feel comfortable. "Thanks for the quantum torpedoes Lt. Zzt! At least to what is left of them" Onyx look at the captain. "Here is the count of torpedoes left... 5 torpedoes to be exact. Even if we have the phasers, we will be at a serious disadvantage if we have to be in a fight." She paused and continued. "Our hull integrity have suffered a great deal and at several places, causing our current problems. The number of victims are 54. End of report." Onyx look at the captain who figured the same thing, with 752 people on board the lost was 7% Stardate:2406.10.07 (USS Nimitz- Conference Room- Engineer Debbie Weston- 1020) Debbie and O'Neill had spent the entire night working on the sensor array. What started out as something that seemed so preposterous that it might work. Each of them seemed to come up with a bigger and better idea. It becam an engineering one upmanship. And to be honest, Weston was impressed. She had always thought of Starfleet regular engineers as lacking of imagination, but O'Neill seemed to rise to the challenge. On a trawler, an engineer sometimes has to come up with new and interesting solutions to the simplest of problems, simply because they lack the resources, so the whole sensor array problem was right up her alley. She never figured O'Neill for someone capable of thining that far out of the box. Boy did he surprise her. By the time they finished one upping the other, they had come up with a bigger and better plan. They had taken bits from several shuttle sensors and pieced them together, to basically creat a brand new array. It was not as powerful as they really had wanted but it had many advantages over their original plan. The main one begin that it was actually being mag-locked onto the hull right now, so they didn't have to worry about the possibility of losing it once they hit the river. The other benefit was, the information they would get would be instantaneous, rather than having that delay they had anticipated. All in all, it was a piece of engineering genius, even if she did say so herself. And it was with this sense of accomplishment that she and O'Neill entered the briefing. All eyes turned to look at the late comers. Debbie smiled weakly and waved to the others. O'Neill, however, seemed a little more professional. Neither of them had slept at all, and they must have looked a mess, but it also looked like they were right on cue. "Sorry to interrupt Captain," Weston said, "but we thought you'd like to know that your sensors are going to be online soon." Sash looked at them both, and gave Weston a piercing gaze. Debbie almost shrank from it but she was really to tired for it. "I've been getting almost hourly reports on your progress," the captain said. "I must say that the two of you make quite a team. Too bad you're not a Starfleet regular. If you wanted to sign on, I'm sure we could use another good engineer." Debbie blushed at the compliment. "Well I don't know what to say." "Don't say anything right now," Sash told her. "Think about it. You'll have plenty of time to make that decision. I just wanted you to know that it was an option. Mr. O'Neill, how long before the new array is actually functioning." (reply O'Neill) "And exactly what will we have?" "Well you should have full short range capabilities," Weston jumped in. "It's the long range sensors that have been gining us a problem. I don't think were going to get any more out of what we have. Which is very limited. And the resolution of the long range is severely diminished." Sash nodded. "I see. Well thank you for your efforts. I know that what you've already produced is more than a minor miracle. Perhaps if we had some string and chewing gum you might have been able to do more." Debbie laughed. "Maybe Captain." She was starting to like that guy. He did have a way about him. She strated to droop from exhaustion. The captain must have noticed. "Why don't you two take a well deserved break. i'm pretty sure Lt. Zzt can do without you for a while Mr. O'Neill." (reply O'Neill) "Then you both are dismissed." Debbie looked at O'Neill and turned to leave. As they left together she said, "That was kindo fo fun, but let's not do it again." Stardate:2406.10.07 (USS Nimitz - Conference Room - Ensign (jg) Miles O'Neill - 1022) "Don't say anything right now," Sash told her. "Think about it. You'll have plenty of time to make that decision. I just wanted you to know that it was an option. Mr. O'Neill, how long before the new array is actually functioning." "Should be, at the max, another hour, sir." Miles said. He blinked his eyes a few times to stay awake. "And exactly what will we have?" "Well you should have full short range capabilities," Weston jumped in. O'Neill." "I hope he can. Thank you, sir." Miles replied. "Then you both are dismissed." Debbie looked at O'Neill and turned to leave. As they left together she said, "That was kindo fo fun, but let's not do it again." "I couldn't agree more. Hey, why don't I show you Ten-Foward?" Miles said. (Reply Weston) "Great, let me show you the way." Miles replied. He lead Debbie to the turbolift, and away they went. Stardate:2406.10.07 (USS Nimitz - Ten-Foward - Ensign (jg) Miles O'Neill - 1025) Miles and Debbie sat down and ordered drinks when Miles said to her, "So, Ms. Weston, tell me a little about yourself." Stardate:2406.10.07 (USS Nimitz- Conference Room- CO- Captain Devan Sash- 1026) Sash sat back and listened to the reports as they came in. He was happy to hear that they had some warp capability now, though not nearly as much as they had hoped. The news of the working sensors was far beyond what he had expected. He was truely amazed at that accomplishment. It gave him hope that they would actually be able to find their way back home. Sash's news from the Archimedes was something he was happy to hear as well. It looked like the ship they were sent to bring back, though, was going to be bringing them back. Kateb's report painted a bleak picture. Hopefully they would get into subspace river before meeting any more resistance. However, considering the time they've already spent, immobile, he didn't think that was likely. "Ok," Sash said. "And welcome back Commander, we missed you here." Sash looked over at Michaela and Kinkaid. "Medical, what's the final body count?" (reply Kincaid or Michaela) The news was grim, but Onyx had already given them an idea of what was to come. Sash looked up at Tagon. If he didn't klnow better he'd say that the Brikar looked antsy. "Lt Tagon, do you have anything to report?" Tagon stepped towards the table. "Yes." Sash waited for a moment, for Tagon to be more forth coming and then realized that it wasn't going to happen without some more prompting. With a sigh he went on. "Please tell us. Lt." "Certainly Captain," Tagon replied. "I thought you would want to know that the telemetry recieved by the Archimedes has shown a rather sizable fleet of Starfleet ships are heading in this direction. Unfortunately the trawlers sensors are not as sensitive as ours usually are, but I would say it was a force of at least four ships." Sash shook his head and rubbed his forehead. Tagon delivered the message like he was saying that there was no more hot water. The stoicism of the Brikar could sometimes be annoying. "Ok, then," Sash looked up at the rest, "I guess that means it's time to move, people. How long do we have?" "By best estimate, about 4 hours. They are traveling at warp 7," Tagon replied. "Well you heard the man people. If we have another fight on our hands it's going to be a bad one. So let's get all hands on deck. Zzt, let's get what we can out of those nacelles. As soon as your in engineering I want our best speed to the subspace river." (reply Zzt) "Ensign Kateb, I want you to see if we can transfer any torpedoes from the trawler over here." (reply Kateb) "Tagon, get Lt. Commander Gideon down to Security and aclimated to team. I want to be ready for any trouble." "Aye sir," Tagon replied. "Then Mr. Gideon, I want you on the bridge." (reply Gideon) He turned to the doctors. "Doctors, what's the situation in sickbay? Do you have the final body count from both ships?" (reply Michaela or Kinkaid) "Well, you better get set up again," Sash told them. "We may need your services again. this time it will be a lot worse." (reply Michaela or Kinkaid) Then he turned to Kestra, who was looking a little green. "Commander, get in touch with the trawler. Tell them we're moving out in 15, warp 2. Tell them to stay close, since we migh need their help. This is going to be touch and go people. Hopefully we'll make it to the river before any trouble starts. but we need to be prepared, just in case." He looked at each of their faces. "We've already been through this, and we know what to do. You have already been initiated into the brotherhood of war. Stay focused and we will come out of this. Let's move people. Dismissed." As the group got up to leave Sash spoke again. "Major Dorkin, Lt Falthgood, please stay behind." Stardate:2406.10.07 USS Nimitz- Conference Room- SC/SFI – Lt.Cmdr Ed Gideon- 1028) It was pretty clear that the tactical situation that the Nimitz was in was close to hopeless. The previously heavily crippled nature of the Nimitz had been speedily repaired. Warp had been returned to the Nimitz if it was little more than low level. However low level would still mean that they might be able to limp back to the subspace river. The greater problem would be the Trawler had only light weapons and with the Nimitz only having torpedo launchers there situation would be problematic. Ed bridged his fingers together and contemplated the situation, as security chief it would be understandable that he would be only be in charge of defence of the ship in the event of boarding. Presumably if it did come to boarding his life would be made almost impossible, morale was already low and power being as it was shields would not last long. Equalling numerous beams in points and a very large-scale battle. Even combining with the marine forces it would be still near impossible to hold onto the key areas. Especially when the hostiles would be able to beam people out as well as in. As a precaution field transporter dampeners would be one of the first things that he was going to look to. The Captain’s orders that Edward had managed to catch was the order to the sift representative to take him to the security teams and to introduce him to them. It seemed a most logical step; however there seemed to be larger concerns. One of wish would be his wife Onyx. The Captain’s voice caught his attention again. "Then Mr. Gideon, I want you on the bridge." Edward maintained his posture and did not look the Captain’s direction. Nodding he spoke. Coordination of the teams should be simple from the bridge,” Ed stated being as positive as possible. He didn’t like the actual idea of being in only one place it usually equalled getting shot at or killed. He preferred the marine doctrine of leading from the front, if he was going to lead the security forces he wanted to have their confidence first. As the meeting was dismissed Ed watched as Onyx left the room, considering his choices he made his call. “Lieutenant Tagon, if you don’t mind I shall catch up with you in about five or ten minutes I want to talk to the tactical chief first,” Luckily Edward’s file was not totally divulged yet so the truth about his wife wouldn’t be widely known. He could write off this time as an innocent conversation with the Tactical chief. Stardate:2406.10.07 (USS Nimitz - Conference lounge - chief TAC Ensign Kateb - 1029) "Ensign Kateb, I want you to see if we can transfer any torpedoes from the trawler over here." "I was just studying that right now, they used a few, they have about 50 torpedoes. I will organized for them to be transferred here." Onyx was feeling that the meeting was running to it's end, and part of her was ready to get out of there like a speeding bullet but she wasn't showing it. She was patient, concentrating on how she could have those torpedoes transferred fast and placed them to storage. Then, she heard the magic word from the Captain. "We've already been through this, and we know what to do. You have already been initiated into the brotherhood of war. Stay focused and we will come out of this. Let's move people. Dismissed." Onyx was the first out and went straight to the turbolift, she really needed to clear her mind up to this point. Stardate:2406.10.07 (USS Nimitz - Conference Room - FO Commander Kestra Troi - 1030) "Ok," Sash said. "And welcome back Commander, we missed you here." Kestra nodded to him in acknowledgment not wanting to go into how glad she was to be back around him once again. Even if she was having trouble with what had happened, she was glad to be back around him even for a short while. She knew that she had to return to the Trawler to finish up the trip. Commander Gideon, during their talk together, had presented a good agreement on why not to do what had actually happened. She knew though that being in command a lot of times meant doing what you were told not necessarily what you wanted to do. She would have rather have tried more avenues to end the conflict in a different way. But, she also knew that Sash would have tried everything that he could think of and would have also wanted a different outcome. Shaking her head, she came back to the present and listened to what was being said. Lt. Tagon was starting to speak after Sash asked him if he had anything to report. "Certainly Captain," Tagon started, "I thought you would want to know that the telemetry received by the Archimedes has shown a rather sizable fleet of Starfleet ships are heading in this direction. Unfortunately the trawlers sensors are not as sensitive as ours usually are, but I would say it was a force of at least four ships." Kestra was thinking if that was true then how could they possibly get to the river ahead of them. The Nimitz was so damaged that they could not do any high warp, so, she started to try and think of ways to help from the Trawler. "Ok, then," Sash looked up at the rest, "I guess that means it's time to move, people. How long do we have?" "By best estimate, about 4 hours. They are travelling at warp 7," Tagon replied. Kestra listened as Sash started giving orders and receiving what the departments were telling him. She felt that she needed to return to the Trawler immediately to get the ship ready to be underway also. Kestra was thinking that this time she would not have the support of one of the doctors, but, she knew that the team that Dr. Kincaid had left on the trawler would be enough if he trusted them. She noticed that Sash had turned to her and tried to settle herself down so he would not see how worried she was that they again might return to battle. This time she knew it would be a lot different than the first time. "Commander, get in touch with the trawler. Tell them we're moving out in 15, warp 2. Tell them to stay close, since we might need their help. This is going to be touch and go people. Hopefully we'll make it to the river before any trouble starts. but we need to be prepared, just in case." "Aye Captain, I am heading there after the meeting." She replied Looking around the room at the many faces, "We've already been through this, and we know what to do. You have already been initiated into the brotherhood of war. Stay focused and we will come out of this. Let's move people. Dismissed." Just as she was getting up, a thought came to her and she thought maybe it would be good to present it to Sash. Just as she was going to ask to speak with him, he spoke once again. "Major Dorkin, Lt Falthgood, please stay behind." At that she decided that it would be best to talk to him at a little bit later and left the room. Stardate:2406.10.07 (USS Nimitz - Near off duty lounge, deck 3 - Chief TAC Ensign Kateb & SC/SFI Lt. Comdr Gideon - 1034) Edward caught up with Onyx and grabbed her arm spinning her around. The corridor was not the best place to have this discussion but the needs must. "Onyx," There wasn't much else he could say at the moment he had still not really expected for her to be here. The last time he had saw her in the flesh was two years ago on the roof top. He had kept a discrete eye on her but he had to stay away until the Directorate was removed totally. Her eyes encountered his and the only thing she could say was. "Edward!" Edward's mind raised for something to say, all the possible words seemed to fall short of how he was feeling. "You look great," Onyx knew that there was an anger built up in her, the only thing that came out was. "Why?" "Why," Edward paused. "I had no idea what Wilson was planning. It appears that the Directorate were planning to follow me and kill both of us. He asked me a simple question and said how much do i love you. On my response he smiled and then he faked my death. I was Thomas Chambers for such a long time, it was only after the final head fell that they allowed me to re assume my identity," Onyx freed herself and entered the off duty lounge... it was empty for once. "I had completely forgot about him... probably the same officer that was here. He didn't let me know that he knew me." She felt cold and crossed her arms in front of herself. "Yes it was the same Commander Wilson. He would have known who you were but not said anything, John was like that," Edward paused and then cleared his throat. "I'm sorry about leaving you for all this time," "If I had known, he would have got a piece of my mind." She paused. "You're sorry... it was a nightmare that I still feel that I am in. It took me a year to get back on my feet." Her voice was cracking, but she force herself to keep it together and also to keep a certain distance. Edward kept his distance it was difficult to know how to act at this point. He had been used to being alone for so long now that it felt strange to be so close to her once more. He had often dreamed about being with her again, however in his dreams it was never in the way of this stand off. "It has been worse for me believe me. Seeing you think i was dead, watching my own funeral and then pretending to be someone else for 2 years was not fun," Onyx sat on a sofa, she felt suddenly drain of energy. "I finished the academy and ended up here. Never could enjoy time off because every time was reminded me of the time we had together. Could I tell anyone? I couldn't. Could I get close to anyone? I couldn't either. I can't see a way out." She grab her head with her hand, there was so many emotions running in her it was making her sick in her stomach. Edward remained standing whilst Onyx sat down, at this point displays of affection would probably not go down to well. Ed stayed motionless, it was not out of desire but because his entire body felt numb. He had no idea that this meeting was going to take place this rapidly. "I know you have sacrificed a lot and I'm sorry for that. I didn't have much choice, it was this or your possible death. I unfortunately made that choice and i have to live with the consequences. This is not going to be easy that much i know," Onyx's mind was dancing between the good and bad memories, there was more good then bad, but the bad was big even if few. She lift her head to look at Edward, she could see a duality, fighting to figure out what to do or waiting for her to make up her mind. She found the strength to get on her feet, and took the couple of steps that was between him and her. "Tell me that I am not having a dream. Show me that you are real before I really break down." She wanted to reach out for him, but her mind was battling her. Edward stretched his arm out and pulled her close giving her a hug. A kiss was no doubt beyond the realm of possibility at the moment. A hug would show he was here and he was alive. "I'm not going to leave you again," The tension left her immediately at the contact of his body. Onyx could hear a heart beating as she hold him even tighter. She didn't know why or search, but she started to cry, an heavy cry. "I have missed you!" She whispered not even knowing if he heard her or not. "I have missed you to, i never stopped thinking about you," Edward stated not strictly telling the truth since when he got shot at he thought mainly about staying alive. Onyx hide her face in his shoulder, breathing in, she remember how it felt to be in his arms, her body remembered. She lift her face to him after some time, her crying had stop. "So what do we do now Edward? Where do we start?' "I honestly don't know, Sash wants me to stay here as the public SFI representative and security chief. With me and you its up to you, i understand how you are probably feeling so I don't want to push anything." "I need to think, actually, I need an holodeck to clear my mind. Yet... I want to stay in this moment. It's confusing at best." "Well from the state of the ship i don't think we are going any where," Edward stated joking about the state of the ship. "So you would appear to have all the time in the world, I'm not going any where," "I know!" She lay her forehead on his chest. "You said the same thing in Beijing before we kissed the first time." She chuckled a little. "True I'm a sucker for repeating myself," Edward stated smiling. "I forgot how much i missed this just being close to you," "We need to take this one step at a time, but that might be difficult. We have to catch up the time we have lost. So... we might start with diner?" Edward nodded, "8 since i lack quarters on the ship or have a clue where anything is any ideas?" "I can show you your quarters if you want... It's a snap to figure it out." Onyx let go of him and walk up to a terminal, a few keys punched gave her the answer. "It's on this deck, just like mine." She didn't know why or many she knew but right now she didn't want to think to much as she grab his hand. "I will show you." They walked out of the off duty lounge and made there way to the officer's quarters. It didn't took very long. "Those are my quarters, and yours..." She continued to walk a few doors down the corridors. "Your quarters are here. Your name isn't on the door yet." Edward raised a eyebrow. "I'm amazed any one has had chance to even assign me quarters," "Actually, I just did. I was the OPS officer before I asked for reassignment." She walked inside the quarters. "See you as a tactical officer i can see. But Onyx the operations officer doesn't quite suit," Edward stated moving into his new quarters. As the doors slid open there wasn't much in the quarters well much being anything. All that was left were a bed and a sofa. "Feels just like home," "We have many furniture in storage... might want to take a look. When I walked in my quarters, there wasn't even a sofa, just a bed." she laughed. "Ahh well furniture would be the last resort at the moment. I have bigger issues, first of all would be to getting fitted into my new job. How are we going to do the division?" "We have a lot of men, some are good for tactical, some will be best put in security. We need to discuss this, maybe in a more comfortable setting then this room." She was thinking of where. "Right, well we will need to get it dealt with quickly. With the current climate and location no doubt both of us will get a lot of work," Edward stated trying to think of work rather than anything else. "Deck 7... we have security and tactical offices. A nice place to start." she smiled. Edward paused and then looked confused. Considering he was in theory the security chief of the ship he had no idea where anything was. This was one of the times that if a relative had worked on the project or surved on a Sovereign class that life would have been made easier with the genetic memory. However unfortunately that was not to be so. "Lead the way then dear," Stardate:2406.10.07 (USS Archimedes - Bridge - Lt. Saleke (jg) - 1035) Saleke was watching the viewscreen as his mind shuffled through a myriad of possibilites, the approaching ships were getting closer with each passing moment. They had 24 torpedoes on the trawler and functioning phasers but a fight with the approaching elements was out of the question, the only logical choice was to make a run for the subspace river. Three Steamrunner class Frigates had been detected acting as support for a Sovereign class vessel according to their sensors but because of the lack of high definition at long range it was impossible at this time to determine the specific identity of the craft. Fighters had also been detected running as support for the pack. Saleke was about to order a channel opened to the Nimitz when the comm beeped and the OPS officer turned toward him. "Commander we are receiving a hail from the Nimitz." "Onscreen." He said simply. Stardate:2406.10.07 (USS Nimitz - Bridge - FO Commander Kestra Troi - 1036) Kestra had stepped out from the conference room and onto the bridge. As she was about to leave, she stopped by the command chair. She wanted to get the message to Saleke so they could get started a bit faster than waiting for her to arrive. Tapping the come on the arm of the chair, she called for Saleke. After a minute the screen activated and Saleke was looking at her from the command chair. "Lt. Saleke, make ready to move in 15 minutes. We have to get going as there is a company coming for a party we don't want to attend. I am on my way back and when I get there I want a report on the possibility of the trawler putting our warp bubble around the nimitz to help speed them up a bit. Troi out." She signaled for the connection to be cut and headed for the turbolift. Stardate:2406.10.07 (USS Nimitz - Conference Room - Sash/Falthgood/Dorkin - 1038) "Major Dorkin, Lt Falthgood, please stay behind." Falthgood hadn't moved, he had expected this. It came as no surprise, however, that the Tellarite had been in the act of standing up to leave. The Tellarite grunted and sat back down at the Captain's command, however. Sash was looking at the PADDs in front of him and heard the two officers sit back down. He waited to make sure that everyone was out of the room before he began. He took a deep breath and looked up, rubbing his forehead with the palm of his hand. "Gentlemen time is short. Give me the quick and dirty about your actions this morning." Dorkin's entire furry eyebrow raised, the equivalent of quirking an eyebrow. "This human," he all but hissed, "Was brash, insulting and he insulted my honor beyond the limits of endurance." Zach shook his head and shrugged wearily, "I didn't have the patience to deal in Tellarite Civil Conversation, so I insulted him back after he called me a lout and tried to slip passed." Sash couldn't believe what he was hearing. "So you're telling me that I might have to go into battle with two officers who are behaving no better than a couple of ten year old children. Is that right? He insulted me, I didn't have the patience. Good God we have people dead and preparing to die, and you two can only think of yourselves. Perhaps the two of you would like to have this out right here and now." Sash took a deep breath. "Listen very carefully. The two of you will stop this foolishness now. I expect you to act, if not like adults, then at least like Starfleet officers." He turned his attention to Dorkin. "And I don't want any more talk of this "blood feud." If something happens to Lt. Falthgood while he is on this ship I will hold you personally responsible. Then it will be my turn." At that he stood up to his full height and looked down on the Tellarite. "Do I make myself clear?" The Tellarite bristled and stood up, "I don't take well to threats, Captain. Your position and my respect of you compels me to overlook that, but I will take no more." Dorkin was the very image of a little fury ball of rage, things were simply not done this way on Tellar! "Furthermore, according to every rule of Feud on the books, the final reckoning shall be held until both parties are free of emergency responsibilities. For the time being, he is safe. Once we are no longer in danger, he is mine. Tellar rule allows it, and the Federation doesn't infringe on such customs... it can't, legally." Sash held his emotions in check, but his eyes burned. "Then let me make this very clear. If you don't like the way I run my ship then go back to Tellar, and to your polite society. I don't particularly care about the legalities. I care about the smooth running of this ship, such as it is. If you like, I can always have you transferred to a much more accommodating post. Perhaps an outpost on Io?" It was all Zach could do not to chuckle as he watched the Tellarite bluster and turn a brighter shade under his furry pelt. Dorkin was not dealing well with people stomping on his culture heritage. "We can leave the feud on, for all I care. If Ill be safe until the end of the emergency, then I classify the civil war as an emergency and we've got years before anything needs settled." Dorkin let out a squeal of pure rage, but left it at that. Falthgood's words caught the captain by surprise. He had totally focused on the Tellarite marine, half expecting him to come over the table at him. Sash took a deep breath then started to laugh. The stress was taking it's toll, and Sash wondered why he hadn't thought of that. He sat back down. "If we are attacked again, I'm going to need the both of you, and for you to be able to work together. The bottom line here is, can I count on you Lt.? Can I count on the marines Major?" Dorkin positively shuddered with rage; he disliked being mocked most intensely. "The Marines." he paused, "Stand Ready." Falthgood kicked back in his chair and folded his hands behind his head. "I'm just skippy, Cap." "If you were children I'd make you shake hands and play together for the rest of the afternoon. As you are supposed to be adults, I'll leave the rest to you. If you'll excuse me, I have a ship to run." Sash stood up and headed to the door. He turned and faced them again. "This is the last I want to hear of this matter. Good morning... gentlemen." With that Sash left the two of them alone, hoping that he wouldn't come back to find one or even two dead bodies in the room later. Stardate:2406.10.07 (USS Nimitz - Deck 7, Tactical office - Ensign Oynx Kateb - 1150) Onyx lead the way to the turbolift, asked for deck 7, it didn't took them long to get there. She entered the Tactical office who was well equipped. "Here is Tactical office. The security office is just beside this one. I spend more time here then in the other one, but they are similarly equipped. I will give you a deck plan and the security details of the Nimitz. That is how I spread them to cover the ship." She found the padd and gave it to Edward. "Those are the last modification I made ever since that spy incident." Edward raised a eyebrow and began to over look the plans. "Do you want to divide man power between the two departments? or maintain them as they are?" "I think we have to divide them. As tactical, they will sensibly different preoccupations. I don't know what will be are schedules yet. Like I said, I know many of them, and some are good candidates for tactical, and others a excellent security people... Unless you have a different idea." "I do not know the officers and crew so it would be sensible that you divide them up. The security force is only here at the end of the day during boarding action, crime and maintenance of the peace. You do all the shooting and ship weapons maintenance," Edward stated smiling, quite content with his little lot in life. "Yes... Like I like shooting things." Standing side by side she pushed him a little. "I like a good fight like anyone." she chuckled. "Ahh well my people are in charge of all the fighting now. You just make sure they get to lounge about a lot," Edward stated moving off to look around the room. The Klingon weapon that had once adorned the wall of their house on earth was now positioned on the wall of her office. Edward smiled. ~somethings never change.~ "There is some of the crew that are already assigned as Tactical officers and others as security. I have to deal with the ones that want reassignments, and ask others if they want to go in tactical." She turn around and saw Edward looking at her Bat'Leth. The flashback come back and out of her mind again. "I still practice, usually before bedtime. I have difficulty sleeping." She wasn't about to say alone, at least not yet, but she knew that Edward would guess that one. "The Chancellor died you know! He was assassinated." Edward paused and put his hands together, keeping his face away from her he spoke. "I did hear that the chancellor had been killed," "Him and I talk often, and one day... he had been called, he left audio on. 2 Klingon officers walked in and talk... they were plotting to kill him. Wilson went to see a contact, I discovered that he went to see Captain Lowell. I didn't have time to read the report he wrote for me about what she said yet." She said in a low voice looking at the isolinear ship. "Wilson, hum a dear friend but not the best of spies. I'm however sorry to see him go, we went through the academy together. And as you will remember he was best man, of course he was called John Crawford at the time," "If you want once I'm settled into position i shall have a closer look into the situation," "Now I do... yes... He made himself low during that time. I think I had other preoccupations that day if I recall." She couldn't help the smile on her face and also feel a bit warm. "It was a beautiful day! A perfect day!" She shock that out and answer. "I would like that Edward." "No problem, right from what i have gathered Mr Wilson used his own quarters as the SFI office however since i have the security office as well i think i double them up. Do you know anything of Lieutenant Tagon?" "Lt Tagon... I didn't deal with him much, didn't have the occasion to do so. He is a Brikar, there for strong." Edward nodded and then smiled. "I suppose I better contact the Lieutenant and check on the operational status of the department. From what i understand my entire intelligence resource is myself and Tagon. Should be fun," "Yes, that's true... where do you want to eat?" "As i said you pick until I've looked at the deck plans i have no idea," Ed stated waving the pad in his hand. "Alright.. I will then. Really funny, the rolls are reverse now! You were the one showing me around on Earth and now it's me in here." "Yes well we all know how you love power," Edward stated gently strolling out of the office smiling. When the door closed, Onyx smiled and said. "You knew that when we got married... I did warn you!"
